DJ Dangermouse

I downloaded the Grey Album last night, and it's pretty good. It's a mixture of Jay-Z's Black Album and the White Album by the Beatles. Which, er, makes it Grey. Or Gray as the Americans say.

Unfortunately, this won't be heard much on the radio, despite its being a highpoint in the bootleg craze of the last two years. The remaining Beatles (never particularly known for their fun-loving, carefree attitude, at least not since they became millionaires!) have stopped it being sold/played by anyone.

So download it! It's grate!

Ah so the lineup for this year's Primavera Sound has been announced, and it's going to be hot in the city. Highlights (for me) include:

Dizzy Rascal
Scissor Sisters
Primal Scream
The Fall
Franz Ferdinand
The Raveonettes
Wilco

Shall rock. Click _here_ for the Barcelona Primavera Sound website.

Luxury Hotel

The luxury hotel (****) was more like (***), but still great fun! Bizarrely, the hotel bar closed at 11pm, and reception refused to send drinks up to our room after this time (how do these places survive if they won't allow romantic, gullible fools to order overpriced, warm Cava at 11.30 pm?!)… still, Roses out of season was pleasant. We walked along the beach for a minute or two at night, and the sound of small waves breaking on the shore brought back images of Devon in the summer.

I decided it would be wise at this point to smoke a joint in the bath (we don't have a bath at home, only a shower; and no, this wasn't irresponsible in the least: sometimes, extreme relaxation is completely deserved, and this was one of those times).

Then yesterday, we went to a few other costal towns (including Cadaques, Salvador 'mad pervert' Dalí's home town), looked at boats, eggs on roofs, children and the like, before eating at a seaside restaurant. I had some of the best lamb chops ever (though I think they were helped along by a delicious Crianza). G's parents were very kind to organise this for us, and for driving us around the Costa Brava.

The short trip really put us in the travelling mood. We are almost certainly going to Australia this year, but the question is when. Ideally, we'll go at the end of November, enjoy some sunshine there, and have the chance of an earlier break (in July) too. We have been considering an Interrail trip around Spain, Portugal and Morocco. However, this will also depend on the job situation - I think I'm going to have to start looking pretty soon for an alternative to Order Entry Agent.

Coming up (maybe later today)>> more images and other stuff for the website. Adéu!

Caught on video

I don't suppose anyone'd be too surprised about Donald Rumsfeld lying, but this video catches him in the act. It's lovely to see a toad squirm.

Please don't spy on me.

Today, it feels like Spring has finally arrived.

Last time I said that, it rained for a week and a half, then snowed, then rained again.

Putting more stuff online this Saturday. After we spend a night in a luxury hotel.

What terrorists will be wearing next season. (stolen from the BBC).

Socialists win Spanish elections

Now is not a time for celebration, but the Socialists' victory in today's general elections is the best thing that could happen to Spain after the terrible events in Madrid on Thursday.

We are losing a government which managed to maintain a popular mandate through two elections, but pursued policies which were hugely unpopular with the Spanish people.

Hopefully, this surprise will result in Tony Blair taking stock regarding his position in Europe and with the United States. Zapatero, Spain's new Presidente del Gobierno heralds a possible return to social democracy and workers' rights as the main agenda for Europe. Terrorism will, rightly, remain a high priority; but ideally, the discussion will be about how to improve our relations with mid-eastern countries… and how we can help them to modernise in order to help eradicate the Islamist threat.

who?

who bombed those trains in Madrid?

Kinky Friedman for Governor!

From BBC News:
Eccentric American country singer and writer Kinky Friedman has announced he will stand for George W Bush's old job as Texas governor in 2006.

The man behind the Texas Jewboys band and such best-selling crime novels as Kill Two Birds and Get Stoned is set to run as an independent candidate.

While his policies are as yet unclear, Mr Friedman has pledged to "not kiss babies [but] their mothers".

Asked why he is standing, he replies: "Why the hell not?"
