RTX Live in Barcelona

We saw RTX last night and had a great time. I also bought a cool tshirt.

This is one of the pics I took with my phone... seems to capture the scene quite well.

Also, I got to have just a couple of words with Jen - one of my all time heroes. It's difficult to sum up how great that was, but given that I usually never make any effort to talk with these sorts of people, I was nervous enough. I'm so happy now though!

Musically, the gig was as I expected - except that Bad Wizard were seriously rockin'. RTX put on a decently rocky show, and even Jen's constant posing did no more than raise a smile from me. I guess my friends who came with me were a bit disappointed by the low vocals (so low you couldn't hear them)... but they're not fans of the Trux anyway, so I think I knew that the show wouldn't exactly be their kind of thing.

RTX played their new album, Transmaniacon, more or less in its entirety - and no tracks off previous Royal Trux albums. It would have been great to hear Juicy Juicy Juice or Hot And Cold Skulls live, but that's never going to happen, so we weren't too disappointed about that.

The room (Sala 3 at Razzmatazz) is absoulutely tiny... I think that excluding staff and photographers, there were probably only 50 people there - and 10% of them were in our party!! This made for an incredibly 'intimate' show - we were only ever 2 metres away from Jen - and for the first time since I left the UK, my ears were still ringing in the morning.

Anyway, if you get a chance to go to an RTX concert, and you like to listen to something different, I can't recommend it more. A better and more together review will be posted this week - we have guests arriving now, so this is pretty hurried.

RTX live - 1 out of 1 (which ain't bad)
