Super Saturday
We're off to see some old friends. Super Furry Animals were the first band I ever really got into (thanks to Joe!), and back in my teenage years they were a strong source of ideas for me. Topics including politics, selling out and drug use (as well as blim holes, alien abduction, Albert Einstein and mobile phones) were set and discussed with great wisdom… but they did push me to the harder stuff (Royal Trux).
So they're playing tonight… it will be about the tenth time I've seen them live in just over ten years. While I'm not a fan of their new material, I love the older stuff enough to wait for it. It'll be a good evening.

It was a great gig. I was sat in the corner with my sleeve rolled-up and the hits just kept coming.
"And it was class", as Mark E. Smith would say.
Although you're talking about the Depeche Mode gig, I'll stay on topic. The highlights of the SFA gig were Ohio Heat, Receptacle For The Respectable, Calimero and the colossal The Man Don't Give a Fuck. We had a cracking time, seated in the gallery of La Paloma… it was probably the most civilised concert I've ever been to, but that was cool.
Rock 'n' Roll has to get more civilised as you get older. You can't live in the mosh-pit all your life or surf crowds until you are 60. Its about time Rock 'n' Roll grew up actually and everyone just sat around tables, a bit like in a jazz club.
ya bastards… ive only seen them once in a student union in exeter.
I heard that they recorded a lot of the last album in Barcelona. Maybe they need to go back to their welsh roots for the next one.
I have heard that it was somewhere a little further up the coast (Girona way), but yes, the new album is extremely reminiscent of the Catalan summer (the first track opens with the sound of a band member diving into their villa's swimming pool)… so maybe they do need to get back to Anglessey where many previous albums were recorded.
Maybe they could ask Michael Barrymore if they can borrow his pool.
Steady, Nick. I don't want you trying to spread your campaign of hate to the sensible, safe ground of thebadrash.com
yeah he´s out of control, this gayfest next weekend and the mobile phone scandal seem to have warped his mind
