New iPod

I got my sexy new black 30GB iPod yesterday, and felt I had to share the good news. It's amazing.

  1. Show off. Are you trying to induce some sort of ienvy? There's absolutely nothing wrong with your good old fashioned 20GB classic white number…black and white screen, fabulous curvature, cheeky and yet somehow pure. It is not given to freezing, massively unreliable and woefully inadequate in any way…IN ANY WAY!

  2. Ha! Yeah well after only THREE MONTHS without one, I had to bankrupt myself. Believe me, I scoured the eBay for old 3rd Generation models (which, as you say, are far better than this understated, sleek, monstrosity I'm stuck with)… but to no avail.

By the way, did you see Saxondale last night? I thought it was v funny… and that Coogan put far too much of himself into Alan Partridge. He can never escape that greatest of characters. We'll see Alan again. One day.

  3. Yeah, v v funny. There aren't enough animal rights protesters being shot on tv I think. I was ploughing through some old The Day Today's yesterday before the football to try and find the classic "SHIIIIIT…..GOOOAAAL" bit, and annoying everybody with my lame impersonation when I realised just how similar Alan Partridge is to my dad…looks-wise that is, perhaps along with the mannerisms of Tony Wilson, the insecurities of Steve Coogan and the voice of John Motson. Discuss.

  4. I've downloaded 18 hours of Blue Jam from here, and converted it to mp3 for my ipod.

The best Alan sports lines have to be "and another one!!" and "No WAY! Surely the judges are going to come down like a tonne of bricks on THAT! Driving a car with bikes on the roof is not a sportsmanlike way to compete in the Tour de France."… and my favourite non-sports quotes have to be "you take your foot off a spike, Lynn" and "This chemical toilet is a Saniflow 33, now this little babe can cope with anything, and I mean anything. Earlier on I put in a pound of mashed up Dundee cake, let's take a look…not a trace! Peace of mind I'm sure, especially if you have elderly relatives on board."
