Albert Rivera and the PP
Here's the story in El Periódico… funny, that. Seems he joined the PP at one of the party's lowest points, when the government made the hugely unpopular decision to invade Iraq. Of course, the same people who blindly supported a party with one policy in the recent elections will probably also say they supported the invasion of Iraq and don't recognise the fact that those of use who opposed it have been vindicated.
That's because some people choose to think with their hearts, not their brains. Good luck to them, I say.

i actually think with my stomach …. but Tom, I hope your not equating anti nationalism with the war in Iraq. That's logically untenable.
Hmm, I wasn't actually referring to you, Andrew… I hadn't realised you liked the Ciudadanos.
I'm not linking 'anti-nationalism' with the war in Iraq. I'm simply trying to piece together the political ideology of a man who has become the spokesman for a heavy-on-publicity, light-on-policy new party in the region.
What I'm alluding to is that those who supported the Ciudadanos party for the reson of 'a breath of fresh air' or 'a new political culture' or simple 'anti-nationalism' may well have been misled by the people who lead that party. The links between the PP and Ciudadanos just became even more apparent, and if you don't recognise a very strong nationalist streak in the PP - because you're too focused on ERC - then you're missing what looks to have been a very cunning political move by the Spanish right.
It's pretty easy to despise ERC for their ethnic-nationalists. But the onus is on you to ensure that you're not led up the garden path by another bunch of dickheads. I believe that lots of people (especially guiris) in Catalonia have been led up that path.
