Celebrity Big Brother, racist?
"I think she should just fuck off home", said Danielle of Shilpa, the Bollywood star.
It's not racist, exactly, but it's seriously unpleasant. It's also - and this is relevant - couched in the language of racists. "Fuck off home!" is the traditional expletive directed towards 'foreigners' by British racists. Danielle later made out that she couldn't believe she'd said what she said. She felt that she'd learned a lesson. Or did she just realise she'd been caught?

What's racist about “I think she should just fuck off home"? That's what all the housemates think about each other. She didn't say “I think she should just fuck off home, paki'.
No, as I said, it was couched in racist language.
And if that's the way all the housemates feel about each other, why hasn't anyone else said the same thing to anyone else?
Amazing. Just read that the incident has been discussed in parliament. Is someone pulling my leg? A comment from a reprobate on a "Reality" TV show (which is censored so that you only get to see/hear what the producers want you to) is discussed in parliament? I just might be able to suggest one or two million other things that should be placed higher on the agenda than this shite.
Agrre 100% with Tom. From what I have read, it was not racist but did borrow from the Phraseology Handbook for Racists. Just wish people would stop diluting the serious race related problems the world faces with this sort of crap.

That whole story of racism in the house has been a self feeding ploy to get us all talking about it, which we are duly doing, and also to justify the existance of that god awful show. Even though I don't have the good fortune (or maybe that should be bad) of being able to watch it at home, I've heard so much about it that I know what's going on and was even slighty curious about the screaming match that apparently erupted last night although I will avoid seeking it out because then I'd have succumbed.
From trying in vain to avoid it since the first year, I've picked up that Big Brother is a public bitching match between strangers and what's going on now is exactly like the shit that goes on every year or six months or how ever bloody often that thing is on! I guess C4 aren't complaining with the boost in ratings from around two million up to almost six.
By the way Tom, I'm in Barca for a while from next Thursday. If you fancy a few Estrellas let me know!
"me" - thanks, incidentally, for lowering the tone. Final warning: do not leave comments on my site with that sort of language, or using an open proxy. If you haven't got the balls to say something without saying it anonymously then we're not interested in hearing from you.
Bart - nice to hear from you. Maybe we can meet up next Friday for some cervezitas?
Neil - your comment was marked as spam again. This won't happen if you use your real email address when you post a comment. No one but me will see it. Still, it's up to you.
I saw it for the first time last night and Jade and those other 2 silly tarts are a national disgrace whether intentionally racist or not.
Unfortunately maybe it does say something rather telling and ugly about the mindset of a portion of British society.
One good thing that may come from this is that we probably wont be seeing much of miss goody again.
I agree with Adam, they are a disgrace to the country.
I suppose though, if you put 10 imbeciles in a house together, you get imbecilic behaviour.
I read somewhere yesterday that Channel 4 issued a statement saying that she hadn't been subjected to racist abuse - she had "just" been called a cunt. That's all right then isn't it? Quality tv.
