Obama for President

Much as it annoys Americans who loathe foreigners commentng on their politics, thebadrash.com is 'backing'  Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States. This website's blessing is arguably the least important in history but I don't really care. So there.

  1. I'm sure that he'd make a perfectly good president but have you ever actually seen him? He has the body language of not very cool year 7 at a school disco. Whatever you say about George he at least knows how to walk in a macho way. I can't really see the American public going for someone who seems like a bit of a wimp.

  2. He also has a very carefully planned set of policies – against gay marriage but not in favour of a constitutional ban, bring the troops home but not very quickly etc etc. Nicely balanced to appeal to all those who don't really believe in anything. Better than Hilary, but not much better.

  3. Joe – and yet, Bush is 5 ft. tall. I think you're right though, Obama does need to address his body language. He appears to have failed the Schwarzenegger 'girly man' test.

Graeme – yeah but that's the thing: you're never going to get much to choose from between candidates – and especially not at this stage. I'm tickled by the way the Guardian have referred to him in 'Abraham Lincoln' tones…

  4. a word of advice to brits and europeans. if you like obama don't say dick because that will bring on a reactionary backlash. americans (sorry north americans, the ones under canada) hate being fed suggestions and knowledge by pompous european know it alls, just as brits hate americans that think they know everything because they read two or three high fallutin rags.

graeme – i think, and i am not espousing obama's candidacy because i really don't know anything about him, he would be termed as a moderate. he couldn't possibly be a british liberal's wet dream and win the presidency. let's be realistic.

  5. Guirilandia – point taken. I m' still sure that I won't make much difference but I'd not like to push Obama out of the race purely because I'd enraged the allergies of reactionaries.
