"No plans" déjà vu!
There is a real threat posed by Saddam Hussein, but we don't have current plans for an invasion or attack on Iraq in any form (reported in the Financial Times)
Tuesday, February 6th, 2007
Nobody's talking about military intervention in respect of Iran but people are increasingly alarmed and concerned at the strategy that they appear to be pursing (reported by BBC News)
The way it works is this: the threat is established; 'experts' and others start to talk-up the case for war; Downing Street and the White House deny any plans for military action while talking-up the threat; anyone drawing attention to the direction we're headed in gets accused of crazy scaremongering, then of appeasement, then of anti-Whateverism.
Power off for 5 mins at 7.55 pm today
You've probably seen the emails going round... this is one of those brief gesture things which we can all do to show that we're willing to make a brief gesture towards saving the planet.

But if you don't do it, you hate the world. Turn your power off for 5 minutes this evening!
Time to go!
It's been time for Tony to go since he lied to the House of Commons about WMDs and so on. But now will do, too. Not content with becoming the first Prime Minister ever to be questioned by police, Blair can now claim to be the first Prime Minister ever to be questioned twice by police! Do we really have to wait until he's the first Prime Minister to be sent to jail?
The timing of yesterday's 'terror' arrests seemed to be very convenient too. At midnight, the main story was Levy being arrested again but by 8 a.m. the terror raid had swept everything else to the side. I'm not exactly alleging a conspiracy but the raid was handled by a government depratment....
