No Country scoops Oscars

Now I don't usually follow award ceremonies (except to complain about them) but I'm really pleased that the Coen brothers' No Country For Old Men did so well at last night's Oscars. They deservedly picked up the best film, best director and best adapted screenplay awards. Javier Bardem also fully deserved his award for best supporting actor.

Those of you who haven't yet seen No Country For Old Men: don't worry about the fact that it's an Oscar winner. It's still a brilliant film and well worth watching.

I agree that No Country for Old Men is an exceptional piece of film making, however I think 'There will be blood' is, unbelievably, a better film still. It's more original, packs more emotional punch, perhaps has more to say. I think it should have got best picture and director. Crucially it's a very left-field film but it's coming out of main stream Hollywood. It's like the 1970s again!

It's weird having the Oscars and actually caring about the results for a change. This is looking like a vintage year, especially when last year was such a nadir.

Hmmm, I was left a little unsure after NCFOM… I loved the first 2 thirds, but could have done without the rest. Big shame Juno didn't do better, I loved that!
