Vote on comments @ thebadrash.com

Hello gentle reader. You might notice some changes around here today as I’m testing some new plugins on my WordPress installation. The first one is that you can now ‘vote’ on comments by giving them a thumbs up or thumbs down. It’s so much fun, you wouldn’t believe it. Now commenting on thebadrash.com will be a genuine popularity contest.

thumb-up-1

I’ll be adding some more bits and pieces to make your visit more comfortable. I’ll also probably be tweaking the design a bit, as I haven’t dicked around with that for ages.

Oh, and I’m committed to writing more on the blog than I have done recently. Hopefully, exile to Devon over Christmas will stir my creative juices some. In the meantime, get voting!

  1. I like the comment voting system in YouTube so I think this is a good idea. When I’m scanning through hundreds of comments, these kind of innovations allow me to see more easily which comments carry weight amongst readers.

Hope they introduce it for us peasants with WordPress hosted blogs soon đŸ˜‰

  2. Yes, hopefully it’ll prove to be a winner. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to play that well with my caching system. Which is really boring, but leads to votes sometimes not showing up when a page is refreshed.

Anyway, sometimes, people don’t want to comment but do agree or disagree with a comment, so this feature should be useful for them. I’ll also add a post rating gizmo, so people can ‘thumb down’ my post.
